A COMPLEX CASE. A BEAUTIFUL NEW SMILE.

Elie presented with a fully edentulous maxilla containing pre-existing dental implants that were no longer suitable for the planned rehabilitation and required removal. The 3D CBCT reconstruction demonstrates the existing maxillary implants in conjunction with complete loss of the natural maxillary dentition, creating a complex retreatment situation rather than a straightforward first-time implant case. The mandibular arch retained several natural anterior teeth but demonstrated extensive bilateral posterior tooth loss and severely reduced posterior support. The combination of an edentulous upper arch, existing implants requiring removal, and a compromised lower dentition resulted in inadequate support for a stable, functional full-mouth occlusion. Treatment therefore required a comprehensive full-mouth reconstruction, beginning with management and removal of the existing maxillary implants and development of a new implant-supported foundation. Planning also addressed the compromised mandibular dentition to re-establish posterior support, proper occlusion, function, and appropriate restorative space. Using the CBCT together with the clinical examination and digital records, Dr. Golpa developed a coordinated treatment plan designed to replace the failing existing situation with stable full-arch implant support and a functional, natural-looking definitive smile.
